ECZ TO DEPLOY ENUMERATORS TO INTERVIEW HOUSEHOLDS ON LOW VOTER TURNOUT AND PREVALENCE OF REJECTED BALLOT PAPERS

The Commission is currently conducting a training workshop for enumerators from the Zambia Central Statistical Office (CSO). The training is designed to prepare the enumerators for deployment in August, 2018 across Zambia to conduct interviews with households on high prevalence of Rejected Ballot Papers and the incidence of low voter turnout in the 2016 presidential election.

On 30 April and 11 May 2018, the Electoral Commission of Zambia met with Church Mother Bodies, political parties and the Zambia Police to discuss the norms and standards of stakeholder conduct in view of the 5 June Chilanga Parliamentary By-Election.

TRAINING FOR DISTRICT ELECTION STAFF IN PREPARATION FOR BY-ELECTIONS

The Commission has prescribed Thursday 26th July, 2018 as the date on which to hold the Mayoral elections in Lusaka and Council Chairpersons’ elections in Chilanga, Chasefu, Chipangali, Kasenengwa, Lumezi, Lusangazi and Chifunabuli districts. The Commission will on the same date hold by-elections in Chachacha, Lwambazi, Kangwena, Kanongesha, Kanyama and Looma wards.

ABIDE BY THE CODE OR BE PUNISHED – JUDGE CHULU

Speaking at the mid-term review meeting with political parties and Church Mother Bodies Chairperson of the Commission Hon.
